"Domain Principle" Podcast on .ДЕТИ14.08.2024
|
The Internet is undoubtedly a commonwealth for all of humankind and one of the most useful inventions of the 20th century. Today, it is used by more than 5 billion people, that is to say almost 65.5% of the world's population, and this number is growing.
According to the UN, about 30% of this number are children and adolescents under 18. Furthermore, there is no set lower age limit—in certain cases, kids use the Internet before they begin to speak. And for some children, the first word in life is not the usual "mom" or "dad", but "Alice" (It’s a russian intelligent personal assistant for Android, iOS and Windows operating systems and Yandex's own devices developed by Yandex).
During the fourth episode of the "Domain Principle", the author of which was the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.РФ in cooperation with the Russian Association of Electronic Communications, the participants discuss:
- what dangers lie in wait for children on the Internet?
- how did .ДЕТИ (dot DETI, which means “children”) appear and why is it needed?
- what opportunities does the "children's" zone provide for children and parents?
- how does .ДЕТИ help create a safe online environment for young users?
The guest of the episode was Vladimir Mamontov, Director of the "Smart Internet" Foundation, which acts as the administrator of .ДЕТИ, and the general Director of the "Moscow Speaks" radio station.
