The Digital Environment Is Changing The Approach To Online Socialization Of Children

On February 7, round table "Education and socialization in the digital age" was held at the office of the Coordination Center for TLD .RU/.ÐÔ. The round table was organized by the Coordination Center and the Academy of Innovative Education and Development, supported by the Women's Union of Russia and the National Association for the Interaction of the Governing Councils of Educational Organizations.

More than 990 people such as teachers, experts and project managers in the field of education, education, culture, science, communication and communications, information security, digital economy, representatives of state and municipal authorities, social workers and representatives of public organizations have taken part in the round table.

The participants discussed topical issues of modern education, in particular, the legal and regulatory support of information security for children and youth, global cyber threats and information confrontation in cyberspace, and the formation of a culture of personal information security using the means and methods of media education and critical thinking.

Andrey Vorobyev, Director of the Coordination Center for .RU/.ÐÔ domains, noted that the Coordination Center has been participating in the Safe Runet Week since its first years: “We actively participate in specialized events and implement a number of social and educational projects aimed at increasing the level of digital literacy of the most different categories of users. The relevance of these projects is only increasing year by year, and I can say without exaggeration that they are in demand in all regions of Russia.”

“Nowadays we are more and more present in the digital environment in one way or another, and therefore it is necessary to change the traditional approach to the socialization of children online. We strive to ensure that the Internet is a completely safe and understandable place for the child. The Coordination Center implements projects that help increase the digital literacy of children and adolescents, for example, “Study the Internet & Govern It!” and the Family IT Marathon, held jointly with the Academy of Innovative Education and Development. Coordination Center is also the founder of the Smart Internet Foundation, which is engaged in the creation of a positive space in a specially created .ÄÅÒÈ domain zone. All sites in the .ÄÅÒÈ domain are constantly monitored to prevent the occurrence of malicious activities, and contain interesting entertaining and educational content,” added Tatyana Novikova, Project Manager of the Coordination Center.

The round table was held as part of the Safe Runet Week, a traditional series of events on the topic of digital security, which is an official part of world events dedicated to the International Safe Internet Day. This year, the Safer Runet Week is being held for the 15th time.
